It was constructed about 200-250 meters from the river bank at strategically very important position. There were a few archeological campaigns: 1958, 1960-1962, 1965 but only in 1966 the excavations of considerable extent were undertaken. During the excavations four architectural horizons were recorded. The fortification was of almost square shape – 134 x 126 meters. It seems that rather small fortification (50 x 40 m) recorded at the site of Mali Gradac in the immediate vicinity, was an older fortification preceding the fortification at Veliki Gradac.\r<br />---\r<br />1: HD005920 :   AE 1980, 0788 : dans une tour du rempart S. du castrum romain. \r<br />AE 1968, 0007.\r<br />ILJug 0477 : Effossum est Taliatis (hodie Veliki Gradac apud oppidum Donji Milanovac, comm.
