Die Angabe in CIL ist unklar, da in der Regel zwischen Pempton/Sulukule/Hücum/Örülü und Char(i)sius/Adrianopel/Edirne-Tor unterschieden wird. Die Inschrift scheint sich Pempton-Tor zu befinden. Fr. Asutay-Effenberg meint allerdings, das Sulukule und Charsius identisch sind.

Die Lokalisierung anhand von Nr. 4 ist nur vermutet, da Details (wie die Wege, die dort verlaufen sollten) ohne streetview wegen der starken Verschattung nicht mit Sicherheit erkennbar:
1. Das Tor sollte etwas östlich des tiefsten Punktes im Tal des Lycus liegen, der jedoch mit google-maps nicht zu lokalisieren ist.
2. Fotos unter http://ahmetisdown.blogspot.de/2012/11/photos-of-historic-wall-of-istanbul.html)
3. Es gibt zwei Straßen mit Namen Sulukule Cd. eine in der Nähe der Mihriman Sultan Moschee und eine weiter südwestlich.
4. http://placesinistanbul.com/placeTransit.php?placeID=1406&lan=TR und die meisten panoramio Fotos lokalisieren das Tor jedoch in den Bereich dazwischen (zwischen Sarmasik Sokagi und Cinarli Bostan Sokak). Dies scheint am ehesten den Fotos zu entsprechen.

The Fifth Military Gate (Πόρτα τοῦ Πέμπτου) lies immediately to the north of the Lycus stream, between towers 77 and 78, and is named after the quarter of the Pempton ("the Fifth") around the Lycus. It is heavily damaged, with extensive late Byzantine or Ottoman repairs evident.[98][99] It is also identified with the Byzantine Gate of [the Church of] St. Kyriake,[100] and called Sulukulekapı ("Water-Tower Gate") or Hücum Kapısı ("Assault Gate") in Turkish, because there the decisive breakthrough was achieved on the morning of 29 May 1453. In the late 19th century, it appears as the Örülü kapı ("Walled Gate").[99
The Gate of Char[i]sius (Χαρ[ι]σίου πύλη/πόρτα), named after the nearby early Byzantine monastery founded by a vir illustris of that name, was, after the Golden Gate, the second-most important gate.[99] In Turkish it is known as Edirnekapı ("Adrianople Gate"), and it is here where Mehmed II made his triumphal entry into the conquered city.[103] This gate stands on top of the sixth hill, which was the highest point of the old city at 77 meters. It has also been suggested as one of the gates to be identified with the Gate of Polyandrion or Myriandrion (Πύλη τοῦ Πολυανδρίου), because it led to a cemetery outside the Walls.[44][104] The last Byzantine emperor, Constantine XI, established his command here in 1453.[105]
